A cockatoo is an affectionate but a demanding bird. They have principally an Australasian range but are common in aviaries and also as pets worldwide. Accompanying two other families (Psittacoidea and Strigopoidea), they are also often known as ‘parrots’.
Cockatoo pet refers to any one of the 21 bird species which belong to the family Cacatuidae. Pet cockatoos are often called “velcro” birds because of their extremely sociable nature and borderline obsessive necessity to be around the people in their lives.
